How Small Goals Lead to Big Impacts

If you want to make a significant change in your life or accomplish a dream, small goals are the foundation of success. Small goals help you practice consistency, build momentum and gain confidence. When these three habits work together you will see tremendous growth and impact in your life.

Practicing Consistency

Consistency is one of the keys to success. By practicing consistency you are setting clear exceptions for yourself and building habits that will eventually become second nature. When setting small goals you are repeatedly holding yourself accountable for the things you want in your life and your commitment to accomplishing them.

The reason small goals work is because they are attainable. If you have a goal break that goal into steps that are so small you have no excuse not to take action. Setting small goals helps you avoid burnout and measure progress towards the larger goal.

Gaining Momentum

Momentum is essential for any progress in life. Often times setting goals can be intimidating and even paralyzing because we don’t know how or where to start. However the most important thing you can do is start, just do it and the rest will follow. Momentum can begin slowly and eventually it will create a snowball effect that will push you closer and closer to your goal.

Creating small goals does exactly that, it allows you to take small consistent actions overtime that create big impacts. Although accomplishing goals is be time sensitive, it should not be a race. Do what you can, when you can, but whatever you do don’t stop or become stagnant.

Building Confidence

Confidence is a direct result of accomplishing small goals. The practice of accomplishing a goal has a biological, chemical effect that releases dopamine. So basically accomplishing a goal makes you happy and happiness breeds confidence.

Being able to build your self confidence through consistency and momentum will allow you to set bigger goals and ultimately accomplish them. Self confidence can lead to increased happiness, motivation and even greater success.

  1. Thank you so much for this! Now that we are month into the year, I definitely don’t want to lose sight of my goals or lose momentum. This has helped me to refocus in the areas I need to and also keep focused on the big picture.
